This popular series started as a tabletop RPG then Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman decided to write a series on it. Starting with the Dragonlance Chronicles then Legends they gave start to a brilliant series. It now has over fifty books by many different authors. Yet, many people's opinion is that Weis' and Hickmans books are the best--I happen to agree. :)
I'm gonna squish all the stuff on one page because I'm too lazy and information is more important than how it looks...I'll fix it all later.
Dragons of Autumn Twilight
This is from memory so their might be some mistakes--also I read a special edition with all the books together so...bear with me.
The book starts out with the heroes meeting in Solace in an inn that has special meaning to them. They have been friends in their youth and five years ago decided that they needed to go out in the world and search for whatever the character needs--Raistlin for his magic, Sturm his father and so on. Five years ago they swore an oath that they would all meet again at the inn if they were still alive. So we are introduced to the characters (refer to below) and then a woman of extraordinary beauty comes in to the inn with a man from the plains. She is carrying a staff that would be the cause of the heroes troubles and the start of their quest. Anyways, the people controlling the town wanted the staff and the heroes got into a fight with them (what could be more stupid??) So they escaped the town and then the woman--Goldmoon told them about her quest. Goldmoon was the Chieftain's daughter and she has loved Riverwind since they were very young. Her father the chief, looked down on Riverwind because a)he was poor and b)his family worshipped the old gods. The chief therfore gave him a quest to find an artifact...now this is the part I'm unsure of, I think the artifact had to prove that the old gods existed. Anyways, after going through many perilous journeys and almost dying he found the artifact. His memory for reasons that would be unveiled later is a little foggy on this so he can't remember a lot of details. Also, a small detail but very important mentioned in only a few sentences is when Goldmoon and Raistlin looked up to the night sky and saw some constellations missing--the Valiant Warrior and the Queen of Darkness. More on the gods would be forthcoming later. Thats it for now, I'll finish this later.
Cameron-The strong warrior, slow compare to his brother. Loyal and good. Very protective of Raistlin.
Tanis-Leader of the group. Half elf/half human--doesn't belong to either group and can't return home to Qualinosti (sp mistake possible here). Wise, 130 yrs old. Basically good.
Sturm-noble Solamic knight of an ancient line. Courageous, good, noble--check out the meaning of knight and all its connotation.
Flint-old dwarf, grumpy and failing in health.
Tasselhoff-a kender--a thief, and a child in heart. VERY funny.
